Summary of Responsibilities

Heroux Devtek, an intense and exciting company, is looking for interns to join our creative team of engineers working to develop systems and analysis for a wide variety of companies within the aerospace and defense industry. Our engineers are hard-working, smart, goal-oriented, and creative, and they are looking for interns to train to participate in every level of product/process design and manufacturing. The interns hired for this position should expect to learn all facets of manufacturing and will leave this position with invaluable skills and industry knowledge. Primary Responsibilities

  • Specifying motors, sensors, brakes, gears, etc. to meet customer requirements.
  • Specifying and analyzing gears to meet gear ratios, loads, size constraints, life requirements, etc.
  • Ball Screw design and recirculation methods including wipers, scrapers and return liners.
  • Creating solid models of housings, gears, and ball screws to support EMA assembly models.
  • Choose materials based upon strength and environmental concerns.
  • Support material selection with FEA analysis through CAD software and hand calculations
  • Create production drawings and perform tolerance analysis to support drawings.
  • Creating procedures/reports to support environmental testing: humidity, icing, high/low temperature, sand and dust, salt fog, vibration, acceleration, etc.
  • Creating test fixtures for required testing.
  • Creating test electronics to monitor actuator performance during test.

 

Requirements

  • Engineering majors
  • MS Office
  • CAD experience, i.e.: Creo, AutoCAD
  • Strong analytic skills
  • Ability to work independently.
